Our business is family owned by father and son team Chuck and Lev Winograd, two passionate golfers. Lev operates the course as President and General Manager. We both knew from the beginning that the course needed a lot of work, which meant significant additional capital. For the foreseeable future we knew we would be reinvesting our profits and putting more back into the business.

Our plan for the business has always been simple: Find out what our customers want more of from their golf experience, and ensure we deliver on it with significant and meaningful improvements to the course each season.

Since taking over, we have demonstrated our commitment to improvement by: purchasing new maintenance equipment, including fairway, rough and greens cutters, changing all the course’ sand and the design improvement of several traps, increasing water supply and logistics, adding to chemical and fertilizer input to the course, and adding irrigation equipment. We have also greatly increased Gary Pashley’s course maintenance capacity, expanded the maintenance/storage building to house the new equipment, and added some finishing to the pro shop; including a deck with comfy bar seating on our patio. Importantly, we added 12 new golf carts last season. Along with the other newer carts purchased, we’ve cut our average cart age by more than half, and reupholstered all carts over 2 years old.

We are told constantly the course is now greener, softer, and healthier, and that there are better transitions between woods and fairways. A lot of work has been done on holes 1,3,6, and 7 aimed at improving playability and experience. This theme of “continuous improvement” will remain our mantra and mean that golfers can rely on the overall course experience getting better with each season.

Finally, we are currently in the process of starting a renaming and rebranding from ‘Wellington on the Lake Golf Course’ to “Wellington Golf Club”. This shift reflects both the change in ownership and management, as well as our desire to shorten and simplify the course name, making it easier for golfers to discover and play the course. We want a course that people enjoy playing and we can be proud of owning. We know we still have work to do and are thankful to our members and customers for their continued support.
